Well, this speaks to my innate skepticism. These are the same kinds of arguments I used against the Law of Attraction. If it is a 'law', then it should work every time. If magic is truly 'magical,' then you should be able to 'Alohomora' your way out of any locked door. (My apologies to those that are not Harry Potter fans.)
This kind of thinking harkens back to a problem I have with the idea of magic in general: people project too much onto the idea of magic. Pagans and non-Pagans alike. There seems to be this grand idea that magic is a superpower complete with special effects and immediate results. It's a cure-all, and it can be used for any purpose. Time and again the heated discussion is waged about setting limits on putting rationality in magic and spell-casting.
When non-Pagans or non-witchy folk speak of magic, they speak of it as though it is akin to the wand-waving Harry Potter stuff. I like to call this InstaMagic. You follow steps 1-3 and something goes 'poof' and then you have a bunny or a stack of 100 bills or a new 'this.' Those in the know of what real magic is and can do roll our eyes at these thoughts and think something along the lines of 'Silly Muggles. Spells aren't for kids.' It's easy to look down at this way of thinking if you've been in deep research and scientific method mode of 1) think of kind of spell, 2) research how to do said spell, 3) perform said spell, and 4) await results and modify spell for next time.
But, let's look at this from a Pagan perspective. How often do we as the members of the Pagan community jump to magic as the means to an end? Not only that, but how often do we project better or more immediate results on magic than are typical? It's like those diet pill commercials you see on television. Yes, they probably will help, but you must also include diet and exercise, and even then you will never - barring extensive plastic surgery and unbelievably low self-esteem - look like the folks who took this pill for two weeks, ate whatever they wanted, and still look like Tyra Banks. Ok... Tyra Banks back in her heyday.
There are many types of Pagans that do this, and not all of them are the Newbie Pagan stereotype. There seems to be a misunderstanding, a debate, a miscommunication as to what magic is. This is natural because of the plethora of ways people come into contact with it. We see it on television, read about it in books, and hear about so many success stories from our witchy communities that we have gotten the fact from the fiction muddled. We have a desire to be the success story, to stand proudly on the beach in our itty-bitty-teeny-weeny bikini that we start believing some of the more outrageous uses for magic.
An old adage says that magic always works. More experienced witches sometimes say, "Well, yes, magic always works if done correctly." But, then, there's kicker, right? Magic can't always work if there's a right way and wrong way. Or, perhaps this highlights the bigger issue of 'What is magic?' Even bigger still, once you get some sort of rudimentary definition of magic, the question then evolves into, "Well, if there is such a force as magic, and it can affect [insert whatever it is you think magic affects], then why can't it effect [insert something magic can't do or control]?" And then, if you even get to a point where you can answer that question, it then becomes, "Yes, but why are those limitations the limitations? Why can I alter probability through spellcraft to attain a job promotion, but I can't alter probability to grow pineapples in the arctic north without the aide of a greenhouse?"
The point here is not to answer these questions, though I'm sure attempting to do so would make for a hell of a fun discussion between friends. The point is to acknowledge that there is a misunderstanding, or, at least, a lack of cohesion on the matter of what spells can achieve. Many magical practitioners would call bunk on the ability to perceive, control, or do some of those phenomenon listed above. Some people who practice spells don't believe in auras or dowsing. Some that claim the title 'Witch' don't think astrology or remote viewing is anything more than New Age hooey. Some do. The debate wages on.
To digress.
The list does seem to have several contentious items on it. To me, the most obvious one would be the bit about crystals and their energies. If crystals really possessed the energy that the magical community claims they do, then we should be able to put them to use powering cars or light bulbs or your old Furby. The hitch here is the misappropriation of the term 'energy.' One definition of the term means 'power derived from substances to provide light, heat, or to power a machine to do work.' Another definition is 'to have a feeling of mental or physical vitality.' Still another applies to physics and the propensity for matter and radiation to perform work.
The energy of stones could more specifically be called 'spiritual' or 'magical' energy. It's just like a battery, but the structure that it powers is a person. More specifically, the energy contained within the stone powers that person's own vitality to perform daily tasks, cast spells related to the respective energy of that stone, or contain specific energy types. It doesn't really apply to causing a machine to do work. Though, to be fair, I think the creators of the list might have used this bit as humor, but the issue still stands. It's like a battery, yes, but a battery that doesn't fit into electrical equipment. It fits into biological or spiritual equipment, if that makes sense.
Another misappropriation has to do with psychic abilities. How many times have you seen the scene in the movie where the person sits down to speak to the psychic and when the psychic asks the person their name the other person says, "Shouldn't you already know that if you're a psychic?" It's difficult, sometimes, to explain why psychic abilities allow practitioners to know some things and not others. However, this is the same problem we discussed earlier about magic and spells. Why can we cause the rain to fall, but we can't for the life of us look like Brad or Angelina?
There are limits to psychic abilities. That's a fact. We cannot know everything about every situation every single time we want to. If that were the case, every psychic, tarot reader, diviner, oracle, etc. from here to Timbuktu would never need to work, because they would make winning the lottery their full-time job. And, really, when was the last time you turned over your Tarot card and it was the 'Trade Google stock next Tuesday, or else you'll take a big loss" card?
Then there are the actual spells, highlighted in the list by curses, but it could really apply to any spell type. Why stop at curses for military use? The Millionaire Matchmaker would be a heck of a lot more successful if she just whipped out a pink or red candle with the right dressing oil every time she had a new client. Right? Here's the thing that makes magical practitioners - both new and old - moan and groan and debate about spellcraft: time, reasoning, intent, and method.
Let me be a bit clearer:
* The time it takes for the spell to come to fruition.
* The reason you want to cast the spell.
* The intent of your spell as it lines up with your end-goal intent.
* The method, or route, that the magic takes to affect your result.
Sure, the military could have some witch on staff to curse their enemies, but does the military have the time to wait on the result? Does the practitioner have a good reason to be cursing that individual? Is he or she personally angry enough at the target to create an effect worthy of employing a witch in the military? What about method? Surely with as much oversight, and with as many regulations there are regarding how and when the military can execute a given action, the route the magic takes would have to be guaranteed to be the same every time.
There are too many unknowns with magic; that's why we celebrate it as a Mystery. It cannot be regulated, so it cannot be sold at a corporate level. Think about the sheer volume of red tape dowsing would have to go to before a water company could openly employ a dowser. How much of a bureaucratic mess would it create if police or financial businesses or therapists actively sought to employ a psychic for use in their respective offices? Since it cannot be understood, or, rather, scientifically understood and controlled, then it cannot be packaged and sold or utilized by big business.
Even the best minds of our community cannot tell you exactly what it is or why it works. We have pseudo-scientific data that has to do with thought waves and quantum mechanics that are affected by our subconscious, but the modern scientific community has debunked much of that. And, yet, we stand in belief. We believe that it works; we know that it works, and so it does.
But, now let's ask ourselves: how much of these kind of magical practices are really not being used by businesses? Homeopathic remedies are seeing a huge resurgence. With the growth of the green and naturalist movements, homeopathic remedies are seen as a better, equally viable alternative. Many medical doctors nowadays employ the use of herbs and roots to make healing teas, with the science behind them being quite sound. While you may not find many MDs asking you to place a quartz point on your head to relieve stress, but you will definitely find them making use of acupuncture and acupressure to create healthy changes in your body.
The actress Jenny McCarthy has been a loud voice for change in the way vaccines are created and administered. While it is still an enormous point of contention in the medical community, many researchers believe that the fillers that are used in inoculations are dangerous to our health. Thus, a movement has been spurred calling for green, organic vaccines that are safer for our children. While you may not consider this homeopathic, it is an example of organic medicine.
Even with all of these changes and with the embrace of these alternative medicines, insurance and healthcare companies still want to turn a profit. A huge profit at that. Some of the largest healthcare companies reported profits of hundreds of millions of dollars in 2009, with billions in profits for the full year. This is not the kind of money that companies simply give up with the wave of a wand.
I think the question of driving down healthcare costs isn't going to be answered by a new form of medicine such as this. If anything, this push towards green healthcare will cost more for the customer than current medications. It's a trend, right now. A luxury. People will pay more because it's the latest and greatest, even though it's the oldest form of medication known to man.
But let's look at a bigger picture question here: Exactly how many witches or Pagans out there are wanting or willing to bring legitimate magic and metaphysical methods to the mainstream populace? How many are willing to jump through the hoops and the red tape it will take to become acceptable to that same mainstream? Furthermore, how many are willing to present them as a legitimate, valid, alternative method of achieving desired results?
Much of what many practitioners claim that it takes to create effective magic typically fails to be recreated in a laboratory setting. Many psychologists purport that a belief in magic, an adherence to the religion of Wicca, and following astrology, tarot, and other forms of divination are markers of negative psychological traits. And, basically, in a country of mostly Christians that think magic is evil, it is doubtful that American businesses are going to want to openly support such practices if they hope to continue selling to those nearly 80% of Americans that follow Biblical teaching - or, at least, claim to.
From what I hear of the Pagan community, though, none of this matters. If the articles, blogs, and message boards online are to be believed, then Pagans and witches have no desire to go public. We believe we are practicing a mystery tradition, and many members of this community take that quite seriously. Still others simply don't want to share what they claim to know on elitist grounds. They like the idea of knowing something that the majority of the populace does not. There's something about being able to dangle mystical knowledge over the collective heads of the masses that makes many folks giddy.
Even if magic could be recreated in a lab. Even if we could save money and reduce costs and win wars. Even if we could solve crimes and know the stock numbers in advance... Would we? Would we provide the service if asked? Some would. Some wouldn't.
We are not Harry Potter, Doctor Strange, or Gandalf. No matter how much we'd like, we cannot wave a wand or twitch our noses and have instant, Hollywood style InstaMagic results. There are no special effects and there are no guarantees. There's no right or wrong way to do magic, and that's why it cannot be marketed. You cannot sell something whose formula - by the very nature of magic - needs to be tweaked to the task at hand. If you cannot perform a spell for a desired result and then have 10 other people repeat the same exact spell and achieve the same results, then you cannot market it.
I know... I know... Each little witch out there says they have THE spell that would work no matter who does it. I want you to think about putting this spell that 'always works' in the hands of somebody in a white coat. Somebody who doesn't necessarily have the beliefs and ideas and faiths that you do. Ahh... That's the trick, isn't it? You have to believe in the magic in order to work it. You cannot be actively mentally working against the very idea of spellcraft, while training your mind and will to fall into that trance state where the most effective magic is worked.
This is why the economic argument falls flat. It's not instant. It's not guaranteed. It cannot necessarily be replicated. And, you cannot teach it to someone who does not believe in it. Even if you could, many witchy folks would not want to. Given all this, magic doesn't really look like something to do, does it?
But, it is a vital part of modern Paganism. It is our connection to the infinite, our touching of our own inner divinity and spark. We want to keep it bottled up because it's sacred, and that's not quite a bad thing. Though, there are ramifications for that which we must accept. Some of those come in web-comic form. And it means that we probably won't be going to Wal-Mart to pick up a spell-in-a-bottle anytime soon.

Human Ashes Used to Create 3-D Art
hearaldsun - A Dutch artist is using the ashes of dead people to create common household objects using a 3D industrial printer.The donated remains funnel into the unit - usually used to create solid prototypes of manufacturing parts - and come out as a bizarre memorial.
Artist Wieki Somers said the project demonstrates the fragility of life and questions our attachment to inanimate objects.
"We may offer Grandpa a second life as a useful rocking chair or even as a vacuum cleaner or a toaster," she said. "Would we then become more attached to these products?"
More than 465,000 litres of human ashes are produced every day worldwide and Somers' experiment is the latest in a growing list of alternatives to the traditional scattering.
In recent years cremated remains have been used to create memorial diamonds, ink for commemorative tattoos and even paint before it goes on the canvas.
Other items include "remembrance spheres" - glass globes that contain a tablespoon full of a freshly cremated body.
Somers 3D ash models are on display as part of the "In Progress" exhibition held at gallery space Grand-Hornu Images in Belgium.
She has previously won Denmark's prestigious Golden Eye design award and her projects include the quirky Merry-Go-Round Coat Rack featured in the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.
Arizona Wiccan Gets Five Days in Jail For Expressing Free Speech
In a scrap with her next door neighbors that drove both sides to seek relief in court, Stacie Brown was ordered to stop bothering them with vulgar or inappropriate words or pictures on the back of her barn.
She thought she was still well within her First Amendment rights to display an upside-down pentagram, a five-pointed symbol familiar to Masons, magicians, Wiccans, Satanists and others.
The judge, however, was not amused, nor was he interested in debating the limits of Brown's free speech and religious freedom rights. In a May 26 hearing on Brown's injunction against harassment on her neighbors, Superior Court Judge Pro-Tem Craig A. Raymond told her, "this isn't a free speech issue.... What we have here is a continued and repeated series of harassing acts by you culminating in a violation of a specific order."
Raymond sentenced Brown, 25, of Cactus Forest, to five days in jail for contempt of court. She was further ordered to pay 550 in incarceration costs no later than July 30.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Arizona commented that the judge's decision was probably correct:
"Without reviewing court transcripts, it's difficult to assess whether Ms. Brown raised legitimate First Amendment concerns, especially considering the allegations involve disputes between neighbors. However, we're a nation of many religions and political perspectives. I'm sure the judge took this into consideration before ruling on whether her constitutional rights were being threatened," according to Alessandra Soler Meetze, executive director of the ACLU in Phoenix.

They market 'miracle cures' and love potions, and in newspaper columns advise lovelorn women on how to land a man.
Some claim to be able to read, from coffee grounds, the fates of their fearful customers, while others predict the future from the stars. Their clientele pay handsomely for every divined word. Old women from the countryside tout herbal cures for everything from frigidity to erectile dysfunction and cancer, and claim that their healing craft extends well beyond traditional medicine. Credulous Bulgarians are the world's biggest spenders when it comes to the miracle cures market.
Every second Bulgarian who took part in a survey for the Sofia television channel BTV said they believed in supernatural powers, and especially feared a curse being put on them. Professor Ljubomir Halachev confirmed in the programme that "trust in psychic powers and second sight is widespread in Bulgaria".
At the upmarket end of this booming business, savvy younger 'practitioners' use state-of-the-art tools - internet websites, blogs and chatrooms - to spread their psychic messages, and give their readings a techy edge. Soothsayers' most sought-after services include the lifting of curses, countering havoc wreaked by an evil eye and turning bad luck to good.
The apparently unchallengeable claim by Bulgarian clairvoyants and psychics to paranormal powers rests on the world-renowned reputation of their late peer, the seer Baba Vanga.
Born Vangelia Pandeva Dimitrova in 1911, this blind clairvoyant and herbal healer is claimed to have predicted, before her death in 1996, a number of world events, including the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, the death of Princess Diana, the break-up of the Soviet Union, the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US - "two American brothers would fall under attacks by birds of steel" - and the sinking of the Russian nuclear cruise-missile submarine Kursk.
Then there was her 'chilling' prophecy of the date for the outbreak of the Third World War - December 2010. Enigmatically, she said this would be the result of "attempts on the lives of four leaders following a conflict in Hindustan".
Of course, 'Hindustan', in the parlance of an illiterate Bulgarian village clairvoyant, could well have covered the entire Indian sub-continent. And, as the slayings of Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Bangladesh among others bear witness, the sub-continent is no stranger to political assassinations.
Asked, when she was quite elderly, about her psychic sources, she became shrewdly vague. Her words were -especially difficult to decipher because she had spent her entire life in the Rupite region of the Kozhuh Mountains, and spoke with a heavy local accent barely comprehensible to outsiders. Her television interviews were always supported by subtitles.
She spoke of "creatures invisible to people with ordinary sight", who told her about the fate and future of many people.
In the good 'white witch' stakes, Romania has the edge on the rest of the Balkans - even on Bulgaria. While keeping their ancient craft traditional, Romanian white witches use websites, blogs, email messaging and chatrooms to reach their clientele.
To judge by the claims of her website, Rodica Gheorghe is the leading 'white witch healer' in the country. Her credentials are based on her family tradition of witchcraft. She is the daughter of the witch Mama Omida and granddaughter of the witch Sabina. Some joke that her family are well on their way to having enough for their own coven.
But in the competitive cut-throat witch business, nothing is lasting, and in Romania's Transylvania province, 'black witches' have muscled in on the lucrative evil eye and funerary markets. Proven spells to keep a newly widowed man from remarrying, and thus depriving his children of their inheritance, are especially well paid for.
After any death in the village of Camarzana, a witch is called in to smear the udders of cows with garlic to prevent 'revenants' - vampires returning from the grave - stealing their milk.
As long as the ancient Balkan superstitions rule ordinary lives, witches, clairvoyants and miracle healers will do brisk business, with or without the internet.
Ohio Paranormal Group Prays to Christ For Support in Investigations
If Christian methods are not used to chase away demons, members of Shield Investigations believe the fix is only temporary.
Founder and investigator Mark Robey, 27, said the goal of the Mansfield-based paranormal group is to rid areas of demonic presence. But their methods may not be traditional.
"There are a lot of groups who don't mess with demonic things in the home because of the repercussions," Robey said. "We're all Christians and the Bible says we have authority over demons. We use our authority in Jesus' name."
Robey said there are different explanations as to why a home or area may become demonically possessed, including generational curses, misuse of a Ouija board and Satanic worship.
"The ghost side of it, that's still up in the air," he said. "There could have been a tragic death causing a spirit to stick around. Either way, we go in and try to figure out what's in the building. We want to know if what's in there is demonic or angelic."
The next step is a lot of communication with the home or building owner.
"We have constant phone calls with the client," Robey said. "We're counseling and ministering to them any way we can -- before, after and during the time we're there."
The rest is mostly dealt with through prayer and fasting.
Robey said the company's 12 investigators come from all over Ohio. He said they will travel just about anywhere and charge nothing for their services.
"There is no real qualifications to do what we do," he said. "It just takes anyone with an interest who is willing to learn. As long as they have integrity and they're a Christian, that's about all it takes. Demons will go after the weakest link, so a strong faith is so important."
"We feel like a lot of people are afraid to share what's going on in their homes," Robey said. "What we're doing is a ministry and we want people to know that we're here to help."
NOTE: Personally, this opens up a big can of worms. First off, I don't have any association with organized religion....but, I do consider myself as a spiritual person. Now...I have been on investigations where individuals have used prayer. Honestly, I don't have a problem with that. There are some cases that involve possession by malevolent spirits that require other means to rid them from a victim or residence. I have been on cases where priests and demonologists have been present and used...successfully, I might add. I'm not saying that a divine being was responsible for removing a malevolent spirit but I feel that the suggestion that a divine being may somehow have an affect on the victim and/or spirit (or demon, if that is what you feel it is) on a psychological or 'belief' level. That begs the question...Do spirits have a 'mind' or psyche? Perhaps that's a question that needs to be discussed...Lon

When I first spoke to a close Christian friend of mine about the publishing of Tony Bushby's The Bible Fraud, her reaction was one that many Christians have expressed, and one that made me aghast. She didn't want the book available because it would "persuade them away from the Bible and the word of God." Further discussions with her and many other Christians around the world about The Bible Fraud all result in the Bible being quoted as the ultimate reference for the apparent "words of God," and therefore the basis for their arguments. The problem lies in that they believe the Bible is infallible.
If we examine the oldest known Bible to date, the "Sinai Bible" housed in the British Museum (I believe that, during his many years of research, Tony had a private viewing of this priceless book), we find a staggering 14,800 differences from today's Bible and yet it still remains the word of God?
As Tony points out, the history of our 'genuine' Bibles is a convoluted one. Firstly we cannot be sure that we have the full version as it was originally intended. In 1415 the Church of Rome took an extraordinary step to destroy all knowledge of two second century Jewish books that it said contained the true name of Jesus Christ. The Antipope Benedict XIII firstly singled out for condemnation a secret Latin treatise called "Mar Yesu" and then issued instructions to destroy all copies of the book of Elxai. The Rabbinic fraternity once held the destroyed manuscripts with great reverence for they were comprehensive original records reporting the life of Rabbi Jesus.
Later, Pope Alexander VI ordered all copies of the Talmud destroyed, with the Spanish Grand Inquisitor Tomas de Torquemada (1420-98) responsible for the elimination of 6,000 volumes at Salamanca alone.
Solomon Romano (1554) also burnt many thousands of Hebrew scrolls and, in 1559, every Hebrew book in the city of Prague was confiscated. The mass destruction of Jewish books included hundreds of copies of the Old Testament and caused the irretrievable loss of many original handwritten documents.
The oldest text of the Old Testament that survived, before the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls" was said to be the Bodleian Codex (Oxford), which was dated to circa 1100 AD. In an attempt by the church to remove damaging Rabbinic information about Jesus Christ from the face of the earth, the Inquisition burnt 12,000 volumes of the Talmud.
In 1607, forty-seven men (some records say fifty four) took two years and nine months to re-write the Bible and make it ready for press. It was, by the order of King James, issued with a set of personal 'rules' the translators were to follow. Upon its completion in 1609, it was handed over to the King James for his final approval. However, "It was self evident that James was not competent to check their work and edit it, so he passed the manuscripts onto the greatest genius of all time... Sir Francis Bacon"
The first English language manuscripts of the Bible remained in Bacon's possession for nearly a year. During that time... "he hammered the various styles of the translators into the unity, rhythm, and music of Shakespearean prose, wrote the prefaces and created the whole scheme of the Authorized Version. At the completion of the editing, King James ordered a 'dedication to the King' to be drawn up and included in the opening pages. He also wanted the phrase 'Appointed to be read in the churches' to appear on the title page.
The King James Bible is considered by many today to be the 'original' Bible and therefore 'genuine' and all later revisions simply counterfeits forged by 'higher critics'. Others think the King James Bible is 'authentic' and 'authorized' and presents the original words of the authors as translated into English from the 'original' Greek texts. However, as Tony points out, the 'original' Greek text was not written until around the mid fourth century and was a revised edition of writings compiled decades earlier in Aramaic and Hebrew. Those earlier documents no longer exist and the Bibles we have today are five linguistic removes from the first bibles written. What was written in the 'original originals' is quite unknown. It is important to remember that the words 'authorized' and 'original', as applied to the Bible do not mean 'genuine', 'authentic' or 'true'.
By the early third century, it became well noted that a problem was occurring. politics! In 251AD, the number of Presbyter's (roving orator or priest) writings had increased dramatically and bitter arguments raged between opposing factions about their conflicting stories. According to Presbyter Albius Theodoret (circa 255), there were "more than two hundred" variant gospels in use in his time. In 313, groups of Presbyters and Biscops (Bishops) violently clashed over the variations in their writings and "altar was set against altar" in competing for an audience and territory.
When Emperor Constantine conquered the East in 324, he sent his Spanish religious advisor, Osius of Cordoba, to Alexandria with letters to several Biscops exhorting them to make peace among their own. But the mission failed and Constantine, probably at the suggestions of Osius, then issued a decree commanding all Presbyters and their subordinates "be mounted on asses, mules and horses belonging to the public and travel to the city of Nicaea" in the Roman province of Bithymia, the country of Asia. The Presbyters were instructed by the Emperor to bring with them the manuscripts from which they orated to the rabble (that's us!) "wrapped and bound in leather".
Constantine saw in this developing system of belief the opportunity to make a combined state religion and protect it by law. The first general church council was thus convened and the year was 325.
On 21 June, the day of the Summer Solstice, (and under those cult conditions) a total of 2048 "presbyters, deacons, sub-deacons, acolytes and exorcists" gathered at Nicaea to decide what Christianity really was, what it would be, what writings were to be used and who was to be it's God.
Ancient church evidence established that a new 'god' was to be approved by the Roman Emperor and an earlier attempt (circa 210) to deify either Judas Khrestus or his twin brother Rabbi Jesus (or somebody else) had been 'declined'. Therefore, as late as 325, the Christian religion did not have an official god.
After a long and bitter debate, a vote was finally taken and it was with a majority show of hands that Judas Khrestus and Rabbi Jesus both became God (161votes for and 157 votes against). The Emperor effectively joined elements of the two individual life stories of the twin brothers into a singular creation. The doctrine of the Celtic / British church of the west was democratically attached to the Presbyters stories of the east.
A deification ceremony was then performed 'Apotheosis'. Thus the deified ones were then called 'saviours' and looked upon as gods. Temples, altars, and images with attributes of divinity were then erected and public holidays proclaimed on their birthdays.
Following the original example set by the deification of Caesar, their funerals were dramatized as the scene of their resurrection and immortality. All these godly attributes passed as a legal right to Emperor Constantine's new deity, Jesus Christ.
The Emperor then instructed Bishop Eusebius to compile a uniform collection of new writings "bound together as one" using the stories from the large collection of Presbyters as his reference source. Eusebius was to arrange for the production of "fifty sumptuous copies... to be written on parchment in a legible manner, and in a convenient portable form, by professional scribes thoroughly accomplished in the art". This was the first mention of finished copies of a Christian 'New Testament' in the history of mankind.
As one can imagine, to condense the real life of the Jesus Christ, the Church and His teachings with supporting evidence into a short article is very difficult. It is therefore wise for those who wish to have supportable evidence to read and study Tony Bushby's epic work, The Bible Fraud, along with it's detailed blood lines (family trees) and over 869 references. However, attempting to summarize what Tony has written..... in 325 AD, the first Christian council was called at Nicaea to bring the stories of twin brothers, Jesus 'the Rabbi' and Judas Khrestus into one deity that we now know as Jesus Christ. Tony says they were not born of virgin birth but to Nabatean Arab Mariamne Herod (now known as the Virgin Mary) and fathered by Tiberius ben Panthera, a Roman Centurion. The brothers were raised in the Essene community and became Khrists of their faith. Rabbi Jesus later was initiated in Egypt at the highest of levels similar to the 33rd degree of Freemasonry of which many Prime ministers and Presidents around the world today are members. He then later married three wives, one of whom we know as a Mary Magdalene, a Druidic Princess, stole the Torah from the temple and moved to Lud, now London.
Tony believes the reason Jesus stole the Torah was that he said it contained "a very special secret", which he was going to reveal that secret to the world. He was stoned to death and the Torah taken from him before he could.
The elder brother, Judas Khrestus, with his "Khrestian" followers conspired to take the throne of Rome, his royal birthright, and was captured, tried, and was sentenced to be crucified. (The "Khrestians" and the Essenic army, the Nazarenes, would today be likened to terrorists.) At the trial, Judas exercised his royal birthright to have a replacement in Simon of Cyrene (Luke 23:41) and then was sold as a slave to live out his days as a carpenter in India.
Rabbi Jesus spent a considerable amount of time at the Palace of the British in Rome and sometime around 48 AD, he left for Egypt to pursue his greatest esoteric goal. The spiritual knowledge from his secret education in the Essene and Druid movements was soon to be elevated to the highest level possible - initiation into the innermost rite of the Egyptian temples.
It was probable that Rabbi Jesus' earlier initiation into both the Essene and Druid schools played a major part in his acceptance into the Egyptian school. The Druids could claim a very early origin and the essence of their wisdom was also that of the Essenes. In the case of the Essenes, it is possible to show that their movement was specifically established to preserve secret information, for they knew and used the sacred writing of the Initiates. The full meaning of the point being made by Bushby is that in the case of all Secret Schools, the inner and ultimate Mystery was revealed only to a High Initiate.
Those who were initiated into the Ancient mysteries took a solemn oath never to reveal what had passed within the sacred walls. Every year only a comparatively few Egyptian initiations were conducted, and the number of persons who knew their secrets was never at any time large. The initiations always took place with the onset of darkness and the candidate was entranced for periods of varying length, depending upon the level of the degree for which he had entered.
The first initiatory step involved a forty-day procedure that basically involved purification, not only in physical form, but dissolving all tendencies to evil thoughts, purifying the mind as well. It appears that he would have fasted, alternatively on vegetables, juices and very special herbal concoctions.
The New Testament recorded that this happened to Rabbi Jesus who "was led into the desert.... and he fasted forty days and forty nights" (Matt. 4:1-2).
This trial period involved more than just fasting. During the forty days and nights' ordeal, Tony says the candidate was required to study astronomical charts to supplement his skills in astronomy and memorize charts of the heavens. They were also given a particular ritual from which to memorize certain passwords, secret signs and handclasps, skills that are still practiced to this day in Freemasonry.
These initiations were not limited to Egypt. The ancient civilizations inherited these Mysteries from a remote antiquity and they constituted part of a primitive revelation from the gods to the human race. Almost every people of pre-Christian times possessed its institution and tradition of the mysteries. The Romans, the Druids of Britain, the Greeks, the Cretans, the Syrians, the Hindus, the Persians, the Maya and the American Indians, among others, had corresponding temples and rites with a system of graduated illuminations for the initiates.
The modern world knows little of these ancient rites yet they were conducted in a huge variety of buildings the world over.
The 'Towers' that are found throughout the East in Asia were directly connected with the Mystery-initiations. The candidates for initiation were placed in them for three days and three nights, whenever there was no temple with a subterranean crypt close at hand.
In this aspect of the initiatory procedure, Tony points out a direct Gospel parallel with Rabbi Jesus saying, "After three days I shall rise again", for he knew the finishing process he was to undertake would take three days being a symbol of the period of time required to complete a condition of development. The ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic texts speak of an initiate as 'twice-born', and he was permitted to add to his name the words 'he who has renewed his life', so that on some ancient tomb-inscriptions archaeologists still discover these phases descriptive of the spiritual status of the deceased person.
So little did the later Gospel writers understand the initiatory process that they never perceived they were developing a story that included a Rabbi's (and Arch Druid of Britain) experience in an Egyptian Mystery School.
St Austin (c. 380) asserted that it was generally known in church circles that Rabbi Jesus had been initiated in Egypt, and that "he wrote books concerning magic". In the Gospel of Nicodemus, the Jews brought the same accusation before Pontius Pilate, "Did we not tell you he was a magician?" Celsus (c. 178) spoke of the same charge. In the Clementine Recognitions, the accusation was brought against Rabbi Jesus that he did not perform any miracles but practiced magic and carried about with him the figure of a seated skeleton.
Jewish tradition invariably asserted that Rabbi Jesus learned 'magic' in Egypt. Bushby says the kernel of this persistent accusation may perhaps be reduced to the simple historical element that Rabbi Jesus went to Egypt and returned with far wider and more enlightened views than those of his former religious associates.
Now, I'm sure that many of you are having trouble grasping some of the ideas presented in this article and I congratulate you on taking the effort to read this far. We all need to demand our local Church, the Church scholars, theologians and media make an open examination of the evidence compiled in Tony Bushby's The Bible Fraud. It may rattle some core beliefs but what is more important to you. the truth or what sits comfortably because it's what you've known all you life?
