Meditation Ability To Make The Body Invisible Invisibility
The ABILITY TO MAKE THE BODY INVISIBLE or INVISIBILITY is one of the many siddhis (spiritual powers) described in the Vibhuti Pada (Book III) of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Invisibility is the subject of many scientific experiments today. Thus, we can conclude that the existence of this phenomenon is no longer a product of science fiction. If you search the internet for the word invisibility, you may find a variety of items developed by scientists which demonstrate the capacity for being undetectable by our sense of sight. A few examples are: anti-reflection coatings, absorbing screens, metamaterials, electromagnetic cloaks, and so on.

However, the kind of invisibility that we are talking about here is not the type wherein you attach some sort of weird material to your body. None of these things are needed once you acquire the ability to make your body invisible through Yoga. The Vibhuti Pada (Sutra 21-22) of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras describes how the student of yoga can attain this ability.

VIBHUTI PADA: SUTRA 21-22

"Kaya-rupa-samyamat tad-grahya-sakti-stambhe caksuh-prakasasamprayoge 'ntardhanam. Etena sabdadyantardhanam uktam"

TRANSLATIONS:

1. By performing Samyama on Rupa (one of the five Tanmatras), on suspension of the receptive power, the contact between the eye (of the observer) and light (from the body) is broken and the body becomes invisible. From the above can be understood the disappearance of sound, etc. - I.K. Taimni, The Science Of Yoga

2. When the body's form is observed with perfect discipline, it becomes invisible: the eye is disengaged from incoming light, and the power to perceive is suspended. Likewise, through perfect discipline other percepts - sound, smell, taste, touch - can be made to disappear. - Chip Hartranft, The Yoga-S^utra of Pata~njali: Sanskrit-English Translation ">ATTAINMENT OF THE POWER OF INVISIBILITY

The power of invisibility can be attained by performing Samyama Meditation on the Solar Plexus Chakra. The Solar Plexus Chakra, also called Manipura (city of jewels), is the energy centre in the spinal column located behind the navel - corresponding to the solar plexus. Its corresponding sense-organ (Indriya) is the eye; and the subtle primary experience (Tanmatra) is sight. Once you are able to manipulate these forces at will, you will be able to make your body invisible by suspending the ability of another person to perceive the light reflected by your body. (See Mastery of the Five Senses). The same principle applies for manipulating the other senses. For example, if you want to suspend the ability of another person to sense any sound you produce, you must be able to master the elements of the Throat Chakra.
