The Hoodoo Truth Calling Upon The Devil

New practitioners may come across passages in Hyatt's material where informants advise people to call upon the Devil in various workings. The majority of such works are destructive in nature, i.e. enemy work. Now, I can't tell people what to do. All I can relate is that I had the guts to ask one old-school worker if he ever called upon the Devil in his works. After he calmed down from his fit he made it clear to me that he doesn't mess with witchcraft. So take that how you will. I haven't asked any other old-school workers I've known over the years if they have ever called upon the Devil so I can't tell you if other old-school workers do this. What I can tell you is that hoodoo/rootwork/conjure and witchcraft are two separate things. There are certain people who want to mix the two, primarily because they are witches, and want to teach that hoodoo is witchcraft. Don't be fooled. You don't have to call upon the Devil to get justice.

Money House Blessing

"Money House Blessing" is the brand name of a line of products produced by E.Davis, Inc.

The line includes aerosol air fresheners (my favorite kind, vanilla pictured left), automobile air fresheners, incense and soap.

The product appears in this blog due to it's name. Many who have come across these products might be curious about the name. Are these products supposed to draw money?

The name Money House Blessing, is a typical spiritual product name among products sold to Hoodoo practitioners. The name communicates the purpose of the product, in this case to both draw money into the home, as well as to bless the home. The imagery also identifies it as being a spiritual product. The cornucopia represents prosperity, the Indian head is found on may spiritual products and refers to the "Indian Spirit Guide", a concept found among both Hoodoo practitioners and Spiritualists. The number 9 in "9 Indian Vanilla" represents power (3 x3).

The products would likely be used in conjunction with magical Hoodoo rituals for ridding the home of evil or negativity, as well as traditional house cleaning. Spraying the vanilla air freshener would be a good way of "sealing" the rite.

Today the name Money House Blessing has become the name of the product line and no longer indicates a true spiritual product marketed specifically for Hoodoo practitioners. This said, if one knows the properties of various herbs and scents, then one could theoretically still use these products for magical purposes. For example, "pine "is used magically to cleanse the home of evil and negativity, "vanilla" can be used to draw love, "cinnamon" draws both love and money, and "dragon's blood" can be used to draw good luck, money, power, as well as to cleanse the home of evil or negativity.

A Gambling Hand

Use the following items to prepare a gambling mojo hand on a Thursday when the moon is growing.

* 1st Pentacle of Jupiter (see note below)
* Lodestone / Magnetic Sand
* Rabbit's Foot
* Chamomile
* Cinnamon Chips
* Silver Dime
* John The Conqueror Root
* Jupiter Oil
* Money Drawing Incense

Mark a green or yellow candle with your name and the words "winning luck". Dress the candle with Jupiter Oil stroking your finger over your name towards you 7 times saying "In the name of Jupiter, spirit of wealth and increase, winning luck come to me that I may achieve my desire!" Set the candle in a holder and set it on top of an overturned saucer.

Take a red-pen and write your name on the back of the 1St Pentacle of Jupiter seven times. Anoint the four corners and center of the paper with Jupiter Oil. Anoint the lodestone with a drop of Jupiter Oil and place it in the center of the paper. Feed it some magnetic sand and say "As I feed you so will you provide me with the luck I will need to achieve my desire. Amen." Fold the paper towards you three times and place it under the saucer on top of which is the candle.

Light the candle and say "In the name of Jupiter, spirit of wealth and increase may fortune smile on me that I may achieve my desire!"

Next, take a red or green flannel mojo bag and one at a time anoint the hard items with Jupiter Oil, telling it what you want it to do and place it in the bag. Then place the soft items in the bag.

When you are done, anoint the bag with Jupiter Oil and smoke it in Money-Drawing Incense saying: "In the name of Jupiter, spirit of wealth and increase, may fortune smile on me that I achieve my desire!" Place the mojo bag near the candle and earnestly pray the 112th Psalm several times with your intent in mind. However, wherever you see the name "Lord" appears replace that with the name "Jupiter". When the candle is spent, remove the petition from under the candle, place it in the bag, and tie off the mojo-bag.

Carry the mojo-bag on your next to your skin when you go to gamble. I recommend inside your bra over your heart. Several times throughout the day touch it and repeat your prayer saying: "In the name of Jupiter, spirit of wealth and increase, may fortune smile on me that I achieve my desire!" Feed the mojo-bag a drop or two of Jupiter Oil every Thursday. If possible you may wish to burn or have burned for you a Jupiter Vigil Light while you are out gambling.
