Chotki Wearing Celebrities

CHOTKI, better known as prayer ropes, were originally a Christian Orthodox chord used in praying. However, their popularity began to spread and nowadays they are worn by many people, Orthodox and non-Orthodox alike. One of the main reasons for which they became so famous is because celebrities started to wear them.

Bracelets or necklaces, Chotki are a cool and fashionable item and everybody seems fond of them, from movie and music stars to famous athletes and personalities.

"Twilight" movie stars are some of the Hollywood celebrities wearing the Orthodox prayer ropes. Kristen Stewart (Bella), Robert Pattinson (Edward) and Ashley Green (Alice Cullen) have been seen wearing Orthodox prayer bracelets. The actress Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts' niece, who appeared in the 2010 movie "Valentine's Day", was also spotted with a Chotki bracelet. The Olsen Twins do not just wear CHOTKI bracelets in their day-to-day life, but they also appeared in movies with them. Among other movie celebrities keeping up are Jensen Ackles, Ashley Tisdale, Collin Farrell, David Duchovny, Matthew Mcconaughey, Olivia Wilde and many, many others.

Chotki are also a trend among music stars like Miley Cyrus, who admitted being a fan of prayer bracelets. Fergie, the famous member of The Black Eyed Peas band, is often seen wearing religious jewellery, and has been seen not only with prayer bracelets, but also with prayer necklaces. Carrie Underwood, the American country singer and actress, performed on stage wearing black prayer bracelets.

And this does not come down just to youth fashion: Madonna, the famous and successful singer and actress, was one of the celebrities who created the trend, back in the 80's, when she started wearing religious necklaces. Now she is still seen wearing them and they somehow became her trademark.

Within the sports field, Novak Djokovic, the world's no. 1 Tennis Player since July 4, is one of the most recently photographed stars wearing a prayer bracelet. He is known to be downright about his Orthodox religion and he can always be seen with a black prayer rope. Novak was even awarded the Order of Saint Sava, the highest decoration of the Serbian Orthodox Church. And he is not the only Tennis player known to wear CHOTKI. Anna Kournikova, Anna Ivanovic, Andrea Petkovic were also seen wearing them during matches. David Beckham has also joined in the trend, and has passed from the Catholic rosary to the Orthodox praying bracelet.

So, apparently, the Chotki prayer bracelets and necklaces can fit everyone, every age and every style, regular persons and celebrities alike.
