No Monkey Business

It's the 200th year of the Darwin Birth and the 150th year of the Theory of the Origin of Species. Militant atheist Richard Dawkins is going to be very happy this year. For others, the myriad of museum celebrations will challenge the visitor to view, think and ultimately decide: did man come from monkeys over the course of millions of years, or from God a few thousand years ago? On a scientific plane, this hoopla will challenge people to think whether the still-unproved theory of evolution is science and infallible, or whether the bible is science and infallible.

A "Darwinathon," with 12 straight hours of lectures on the wisdom of Darwin, is planned this spring.

Atheists have their opinion:

In the Channel 4 series Dawkins on Darwin he argues that Darwinism provides a more thrilling view of creation than any religion. Discover magazine has called Richard Dawkins "Darwin's Rottweiler" because of the adamant way he defends evolution. These days Dawkins turns his brainy behavior towards religion, looking at the pain and suffering that faith has caused. He criticizes the concept of God in all the ways that the deity is depicted, from the Old Testament figure to more enlightened ones. In his book The God Delusion he maintains that belief in God is irrational and likely deadly as well.

As the world marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of "The Origin of Species" and the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth on Feb. 12, CMI hopes to illustrate how the evolutionary viewpoint is far from the tried and tested science fact that many believe it to be, according to the ministry website.
