The Power Of Now

I was recommended the book The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle by my sister as she has found it to be very helpful and encouraging. The author highlights "living in the power of now", and the way he presents his case is great. Living in the present frees you from worrying about the past and future and allows you to enjoy the moment. Choosing to focus on "the Now" prevents fears and concerns of the past and the future from taking over your mind, thus allowing you to have a more enjoyable life experience... NOW. However, Tolle used a lot of language that I found difficult to relate to, making the book a difficult read. You have to plough through a lot of drivel to pull out a gem here and there. There are some great gems so you almost feel compelled to keep reading. I didn't agree with all his interpretations, particularly about God. He misses the point of what it means to have a relationship with God who is the creator of all and he assumes that we are God. This has an element of truth to it, however it leaves out the crucial point of the reason this fits his line of thinking. We are created in God's image and likeness. I think if he were to understand the concept of personal connection with a loving creator, his book would be magically profound. When you live in the now, your life is more joyful. Remember, enjoy the moment.
